central hub for exploring fine waterfalls and serene parks
Staying here allowed us easy access to both the amazing stjornarfoss waterfall just under 3 km away and peaceful walking trails leading to gorgeous views. The cozy cabin vibe was lovely, but the breakfast menu could use more vegan options for greater variety.

All in all - had a nice sunny 1 night stay. The staff were super-friendly, amicable and helped me with free parking. I've booked family room with wide windows providing ample view of the nature outside and everything was great.

Fine lakeside views enhanced our experience.
I encountered several disappointments. The breakfast options were severely limited, with almost no variety, especially lacking vegan selections. Access to the hotel was tricky due to poor ice removal. Although the cozy atmosphere was appealing, these issues significantly detracted from my overall experience.

Definitely a Cozy Getaway for Couples
I loved the little personal touches like the heated bathroom floors and the super comfy beds. Plus, we had our own little patio by the lake where we watched the northern lights dance above. It was very nice!
Sure, it wasn't exactly cheap, but honestly it was worth it.

It was easy to take short hikes to the glacial lake and see the fine moss-covered lava fields. I appreciated the friendly atmosphere at the restaurant where we had hearty meals. The location allowed us to see the northern lights. We felt at home in this hidden gem while enjoying our road trip through Iceland.
The breakfast menu could use more vegan options.

Our family had a wonderful one-night stay here. The spacious Family Room provided us with plenty of comfort to rest after a long day of exploring nearby attractions, including stunning waterfalls. The food at dinner was impressive, and breakfast the next morning satisfied our needs before hitting the road again. The responsive reception staff made our last-minute dinner reservation easy. It was an enjoyable stop on our journey along the South Coast.

I stayed at Magma for two nights in January 2024. The location is fantastic, perfect for exploring the south coast. The room was clean and had a cozy atmosphere, great. I loved the comfortable beds and the heated bathroom floors. The views from my window over the surrounding hills were fine. The restaurant offered delicious dinner options, but breakfast was quite basic with limited choices. I felt the breakfast could have more variety, especially for those looking for vegan options. One significant inconvenience was the front desk. They weren't available 24/7. I needed assistance one night and had to wait. The door locks were tricky to operate. It would be great if they could improve on that. Despite these small issues, I really enjoyed my time and would come back to explore more.

Can just recommend for a stopover
Fantastic location, fantastic food, the restaurant serves some of the best meals I've ever had with a super classy atmosphere, and the staff were helpful when clearing snow around our car and sharing tips about catching the aurora.
For us it was ideal.
